Ktunaxa Word of the Week: miȼq̓aqas

Admin

kiʔsuk kyukyit ka aⱡa! Every week, our Aboriginal Head Start Coordinator Kayla teaches us a new word in the Ktunaxa language.

This week’s word of the week is miȼq̓aqas (mitch ga gass. Real throaty on the first g). This is the word for chickadee.

The little birds that like to clean up crumbs after a picnic are sometimes miȼq̓aqas.

To hear how miȼq̓aqas is pronounced, visit First Voices.
